We had the great opportunity and honor of sponsoring Neihardt Elementary, a local elementary school, through the Boosterthon Fun Run Shirt program. At Burning Ox Marketing, we value education and the importance of coming together as a community and supporting one another. We decided to donate as this school is fantastic at educating kids and involving families in learning.
What Is the Boosterthon Fun Run?
For starters, Boosterthon is a fundraising company that helps schools, businesses, and organizations by providing support and structure for hosting events. Their mission is to help schools obtain the resources they need for students to thrive.
A fun run gives the kids an opportunity to exercise, work together for a common goal, and have a t-shirt as a symbol of accomplishment, not only of running the course that has been laid out, but also of fundraising enough money to help continue their education. They are healthier and energized about learning, and have a great fun run shirt to wear. From a community standpoint, it unifies the neighborhood to prioritize learning and growth.
What’s great is this aligns with what Burning Ox does: help those who need help when they need it. Granted, we’re not a non-profit organization, but we do support causes that embody helping those who need assistance from those who are able.
Why We Sponsored the Boosterthon Fun Run Shirts
The shirts are given to every student and staff member of the school, regardless of the total amount raised by the community. Essentially, the fun run shirts are free to everyone attending so that no kids are left out and all can participate regardless of each family’s economic situation.
We spoke with a retired elementary school teacher who shared that students wear the shirts for years and love remembering what they accomplished. The visibility of the shirts in the community also serves as a reminder to parents and businesses that their donations made an impact and that the children will always remember their generosity.
Also, it was wonderful to see our logo on the signs and fun run shirts that were worn by the kids and to see a bunch of burning oxes on their backs. However, a logo isn’t the main reason for the donation; supporting great teachers and educators is.
A Message to Business Owners: Let’s Grow Together
If other business owners are considering helping out the community, we recommend that you do. Rarely do people remember every single dollar that they spend throughout their lives, but there is something special about the money that is donated to a worthy cause. Aside from the good that it brings to the world, it’s also tax-deductible.
Some byproducts of supporting a cause, like a fun run shirt, are marketing and brand recognition. Major companies do that, like Google for the Sarpy County Fair in Nebraska, given their large data center in the community that has brought increased revenue and job opportunities.
Another benefit is that the more business and success we gain from the community, the more funds we’ll donate and give back to those who need it. Therefore, we’re helping both our neighbors and wonderful businesses with marketing their amazing products and services. It’s a win-win for everyone.
